Hello Everyone,
Michael and I created some social for another story. URL:

Below are some proposed social media messages. Tweak as needed.
Tweet structure:

“We would like to see all internet traffic encrypted,” @lilatretikov, Wikimedia Foundation’s executive director. @motherboard
Wikipedia must reach a balance between accessibility, privacy, and surveillance. -- Collin Anderson, researcher for Iran’s Wikipedia censorship. @motherboard

Wikipedia has “to balance between accessibility and privacy and surveillance.” -- Collin Anderson, researcher for Iran’s Wikipedia censorship.
Wikipedia offers an encrypted version of its site, but it doesn’t force all visitors to use it. Staying accessible while remaining private.
Google+ structure:

Wikipedia censorship is a growing issue. The NSA surveillance creates a concern for Wikipedia and its users. The challenges of staying safe and accessible. +MotherboardTV
NSA surveillance can be combated by encryption. See how Wikipedia is choosing to handle HTTPS encryption for its users.
Thanks,
Thanks, Andrew! While the social content is strong I'm not sure if this article is appropriate to share. It doesn't tell a great story about us with regard to HTTPS. It's not overly negative, but not great - especially the headline. What do others think?

I agree, the article is about what we're *not* doing. It's interesting but perhaps not one we want to present.

Unfortunately I agree with Heather and Juliet, I think the content here is good and explains the complicated nature of getting everyone access to WP, but the wording and especially the end line "So if Wikipedia really wants more encryption all over the web, including its own site, it might have to make some tough choices." don't work.
If it was worded differently, I'd say publish, but this just isn't the case.
