• Open Badges are new digital credentials that can recognize an editor's achievements on a variety of websites -- not just on Wikipedia. They can be a powerful tool for engaging more contributors. • During the Wikimedia Hackathon in Lyon, further steps were taken to make an extension for Open Badges on MediaWiki a reality. The hope is that such an extension will increase editor retention and interest to contribute on Wikimedia's projects as they can highlight their achievements in other settings. (link)
Thanks,
