Should we post this question on our Facebook page? In a recent video
experiment it seemed to resonate with people.
Have you ever used Wikipedia to settle a bet or resolve an argument? Did
you win?
What do you think?

Hi all,
We've just published "#FREEBASSEL: Free culture advocate who built 3D
renderings of Palmyra missing in Syria
<http://blog.wikimedia.org/2015/10/08/bassel-missing-syria/>" to the
Wikimedia blog.
In short, Bassel Khartabil, an open-source advocate who has been imprisoned
in Syria for three years, was moved to an undisclosed location last
weekend. His friends and family fear for his safety.
I'd like to ask the people on this list to get the word out on social media
(please retweet this ASAP
<https://twitter.com/Wikipedia/status/652164523671990272>!) and/or
translate the post into as many languages as possible.
Thanks, everyone.

Hi all,
We've published "Wikipedia awareness programs drive Bangla Wikipedia usage
<https://blog.wikimedia.org/2015/10/01/bangla-wikipedia-student-awareness/>"
in ten(!) languages to the blog. Thanks to Nahid for the post!
Proposed social messages follow:
*Facebook/Google+:*
- They're teaching students how to effectively use Wikipedia to find
information—vital knowledge for the thousands of Bangladeshi students who
are now getting wide access to the Internet.
*Twitter*
- About half of the attendees did not know what Wikipedia is.
