Hi Mayo,
You will need to filter templates out of that communication as most people
use templates that other people have written.

Hi! In case it is useful feedback. In Barcelona, I am
collaborating with a
team at Barcelona Media which is researching the emotional dimension of
Wikipedians. The method is based on large-data analysis of presence of
keywords that are associated to particular emotions. There are several types
of this type of emotional-associated words and this technique has been used
also for other type of "text" analysis. In this research design, you don't
need to ask wikipedians how do you feel, but you obtain an stimation of
their emotional stage from the words they use while interacting with others.
For example, is the people who feel more secure about themselves and in an
empowered possition the one who edits more or do some type of editing?.
In anycase, this is just for info. I find also interesting your research
design.
Cheers! Mayo

Subject: [RCom-l] New project on wiki anxiety
A new project has been added to the Research directory:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Research:Investigating_editing_anxiety_in_ne…
The PI – Benjamin Cowan – is an HCI researcher based in Edinburgh and I had
a few conversations with him on this project over the last weeks.
This research sounds very timely and relevant to WMF's work on new user
engagement (I am cc'ing the Summer of Research list), but we need to figure
out how to best handle the recruitment of participants.
One option we discussed would be to (temporarily) integrate a questionnaire
into the new MoodBar feature [1], but I need to discuss this internally with
the tech people.
In the meantime your feedback is very welcome. I told Ben we need more
information, for example on the target sample size. He'll be adding more
details in the coming days.
Dario
