Generally asking the Multimedia team:
What are further Multimedia tasks available for Google Code-in?

This point needs a lot of work:

We're talking of thousands (or probably an order of 10^5) templates to
edit across all Wikimedia projects. It would be nice to have GCI
students audit (AKA Special:Random over and over) one wiki from the long
tail and fix at least the most important templates (usually infobox and
navbox meta-templates, if such a thing exists); on small wikis, they're
hopefully not fully protected.
How would students find/identify the most important templates?
If this task wouldn't be boring repetitive gruntwork, if clear steps and
instructions can be identified, and if there is at least a mentor
available (mentoring in a team saves time!) it might be worth to give it
a try as a Google Code-In task.
Cheers,
