looks great :) so the second clip is doing seeking just via the flash
client reading the flv and making byte range requests to
archive.org
server? Thats good I was worried we would have to have them install
something special... setting up some examples where in-page javascript
links jump to different parts of the video and the flash player controls
are "hidden" would probably be a good next step...
fyi we have a lot of clips on
archive.org
http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=subject:%22U.S.%20Congress%22
some are very long and would be good for testing accuracy of flash
client side seeking (without server side flash communication server)

Hello,
Since the GSoC deadline has been extended, I have posted a draft of my
project proposal online:
http://urbanstew.org/metavidwiki/proposal.html
Excerpt:
---
I propose to do a number of modifications to MetaVidWiki, with the
common goal of improving the ease in which users can add their own
video content to the Wiki.
The specific tasks are:
* making the process of video uploading to a MetaVidWiki system an
easy one-step process (currently, uploading a video file to the system
requires several non-trivial steps)
* adding the ability to use / annotate externally hosted video
(from sites such as
archive.org and YouTube)
---
There is also a supplemental materials page which currently has next
to nothing (but where I'll try to do some proof-of-concept exercises
in the next few days):
http://urbanstew.org/metavidwiki/
Any feedback about the project / proposal is more than welcome (and
thanks to those of you who have already helped me with MetaVidWiki and
with the project ideas).
Kind regards,
Stjepan
