I'm referring to the 'statcounter' extension which only shows 'Site statistics' in the sidebar. There are no calls to the statcounter site which quote the statcounter-ID or statcounter-security codes to identify it with a specific counter unique to my site using mediawiki.

You could either ask at the extension's talk page (preferable) or via the general MediaWiki admin mailing list for insight on the extension itself.
