Hi Bukola Greetings from Cape Town! I started to create an article about the editathon at the LIASA Conference but I think I messed up on the meta page. Could you please delete whatever is there... and I can start from scratch.
I am hoping that libraries are part of the Education newsletter. Or would that fall under GLAM?
There is very little on libraries in South Africa on Wikipedia (and even on Wikidata), so we ran an editathon at the annual LIASA (Library and Information Association of South Africa) conference where attendees could add content. Our aim was to get each attendee to add a library to the List of Libraries in South Africa https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_libraries_in_South_Africa (Low hanging fruit) and it succeeded. There were 30 attendees, mostly newbies, who added 33 entries. Attendees were from across the library sector - school, academic, public and special libraries https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:LIASA_Wikipedia_Editathon_2023.pdf

We are about to have a Wiki Loves SA Libraries campaign (dates still to be finalised) https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wiki_Loves_South_African_Libraries_Campaign so the editathon was a way of getting interest in the campaign.
Thanks Kind regards Ingrid Thomson
