What's a good way of rotating logs on Toolforge? I haven't found anything
in the documentation on Wikitech. For context, in this case I'm looking to
use it for logs from Celery workers. I figured I can create a scheduled job
that runs logrotate in the tools home directory. Is there any other,
recommended or better way to do this?

Hi all,
Tool developers may be interested to know that Codex [1], the design
system for Wikimedia, is now available on the Toolforge CDNjs Mirror [2]
(and on upstream CDNjs [3], but you should prefer the Toolforge mirror
:P). This means you can relatively easily use the Codex components,
icons, and/or design tokens in your tools if you want, just like e.g.
Bootstrap. See [4] for an example in one of my tools. (The most
important technical bits are the importmap, import statements, createApp
call, and `components: codex` and `...codexIcons`, if you want to search
for those parts in particular.)
The Codex maintainers would probably like me to remind you that Codex
has not reached version 1.0 yet ;) I gather that it’s coming up (and
not, like, years away), but until then you should probably be ready for
breaking changes to happen. Once version 1.0 is out, CDNjs and the
Toolforge mirror should pick it up automatically, but you’ll need to
adjust the URLs in your tools like for any version upgrade (since the
version number is part of the URL – CDNjs doesn’t offer auto-updating
“latest” URLs).
The Phabricator task for Codex being available on CDNjs is T338834 [5];
if you experience any issues, you can bring them up there.
Enjoy!
Lucas

Hi,
We are planning to do some changes to the Cloud VPS monitoring systems.
Most notably:
* The Graphite and statsd servers will be shut down. Please migrate your
clients to use Prometheus metrics instead.
* The Grafana instance at https://grafana-cloud.wikimedia.org (or
grafana-labs.wikimedia.org) will be shut down and replaced by a new
instance at https://grafana.wmcloud.org. Please migrate dashboards you
rely on to the new server.
Toolforge users are unaffected by these changes. Also, the popular
"Cloud VPS project board" Grafana dashboard has already been migrated to
use Prometheus.
For more details and the timeline for these changes, see:

Recently one of our Cloud VPS servers ran out of disk space. Is this
something that you can get alerts for from Grafana or something else (e.g.
by e-mail)? I looked around a bit in the Wikitech documentation and
found Alertmanager#Grafana
alerts <https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Alertmanager#Grafana_alerts>,
but it looks like that's not for users of the Cloud VPS, rather the
maintainers.

Hello all,
The Code of Conduct Committee is a team of five trusted individuals (plus
five auxiliary members) with diverse affiliations responsible for general
enforcement of the Code of conduct for Wikimedia technical spaces.
Committee members are in charge of processing complaints, discussing with
the parties affected, agreeing on resolutions, and following up on their
enforcement. For more on their duties and roles, see
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Code_of_Conduct/Committee.
This is a call for community members interested in volunteering for
appointment to this committee. Volunteers serving in this role should be
experienced Wikimedians or have had experience serving in a similar
position before.
The current committee is doing the selection and will research and discuss
candidates. Six weeks before the beginning of the next Committee term,
meaning July 16, 2023, they will publish their candidate slate (a list of
candidates) on-wiki. The community can provide feedback on these
candidates, via private email to the group choosing the next Committee. The
feedback period will be two weeks. The current Committee will then either
finalize the slate, or update the candidate slate in response to concerns
raised. If the candidate slate changes, there will be another two week
feedback period covering the newly proposed members. After the selections
are finalized, there will be a training period, after which the new
Committee is appointed. The current Committee continues to serve until the
feedback, selection, and training process is complete.
If you are interested in serving on this committee or like to nominate a
candidate, please write an email to techconductcandidates AT wikimedia.org
with details of your experience on the projects, your thoughts on the code
of conduct and the committee and what you hope to bring to the role and
whether you have a preference in being auxiliary or main member of the
committee. The committee consists of five main members plus five auxiliary
members and they will serve for a year; all applications are appreciated
and will be carefully considered. The deadline for applications is *the end
of day on May 31 2023*.
Please feel free to pass this invitation along to any users who you think
may be qualified and interested.
Best,
Martin Urbanec, on behalf of the Code of Conduct Committee
