[Cloud-announce] Horizon and CI downtime Tomorrow, 2018-04-13

Next Friday we'll be upgrading our OpenStack cluster. The upgrade should not interrupt any existing tools or instances, but during the upgrade it will be impossible to create, delete, or modify WMCS VMs. I'll start the process at around 14:00 UTC (7AM PDT). The complete upgrade may take much of the day; Horizon will be disabled for the duration of this update. mysql: Delete all rows older than N days

Hi, I'd like to issue a command to a database our team manages to clean all data older than 30 days. Browsing around I've found that: DELETE FROM $table WHERE $timestamp < NOW() - INTERVAL 30 DAY could work, but I'd like to check with you first just in case you have a better command or ideas. The underlying NFS storage server is being replaced. Your access path will remain the same, but the data may be stale or inaccessible during the migration to the new servers. Dates: The migration is scheduled for *April 2nd, 2018 starting at 14:30 UTC*, and is expected to last a few hours. Thanks! We'll send more updates closer to the migration date. What is a tool?

We use the term "tool" a lot in our community, usually to refer to projects hosted on Toolforge (and before that, Tool Labs, and before that, the Toolserver). But what is a tool? On Meta I've crafted a preliminary definition based on my own understanding.[0] Let me know if it's consistent with your understanding. If not, feel free to recommend changes. (I'd be very curious to see if other definitions exist!)
