This seems to be done by guessing the (weak) passwords of those accounts. At present there is now a Captcha check live that asks you to enter a confirmation word if you enter an incorrect password. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAPTCHA In any case all users, especially sysops and higher, are requested urgently to make sure the have a serious password.
