Dear subscribers to the announce-l mailing list,
this list was was set up to distribute WikiZine, a community news bulletin. The last bulletin was distributed in January, and WikiZine has fallen through periods of activity and inactivity before. So, this list will continue to remain available, and your subscription will remain active.
I wanted to take a moment to inform you of other ways to keep abreast of developments in the Wikimedia universe:
1) https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/WikimediaAnnounce-l
This is a moderated mailing list where representatives of the Wikimedia Foundation and Wikimedia chapters, as well as volunteer groups, share reports and updates. You can view the list archives through the above URL. I encourage you to subscribe, as we're trying to develop this list into a key internal communications tool.
2) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost
The English Wikipedia Signpost is one of the most comprehensive community-written updates on important Wikipedia happenings. You can subscribe to the weekly Signpost by RSS feed and by a number of other means here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/Subscribe
For reports and updates in other languages, please see the sidebar of language links.
3) http://en.planet.wikimedia.org/
Planet Wikimedia is a blog aggregator. It groups together various Wikimedia and community blogs and is topically filtered to Wikimedia-relevant posts. If you blog about Wikimedia, you can add your blog to the aggregator to give it a greater audience: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Planet_Wikimedia. Again, please note the availability of "Planet Wikimedias" in other languages.
4) http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Reports
This wiki page is a central hub of reports from organizations and projects that make up the Wikimedia movement. You can help us make it more complete, and you can help us create wiki copies of reports so that they can be translated and enriched by the community.
I hope this information was helpful :-). Wikimedia is a global movement, and we view it as one of our key responsibilities to help in the development of clear and understandable internal communications structures and processes.
All best, Erik
