Hi,
I added some server-side logging during the research hackathon last weekend, and I'd like to solicit feedback.
The patch will record all attempts to save through EditPage or ApiEditPage, whether or not they are successful.
Would it make sense to log further down, like in doEditContent? Should we also write a log at the beginning of each edit session, to track dropout?

Thanks, Adam
Hi Adam,
we have some cluster-wide instrumentation in place for edit-related events which does something similar (see Schema:Edit), different teams in Product also use their own instrumentation to log edit-related events (both client and server-side, see for example Schema:MobileWebEditing). We haven’t been able to come up with a solution general enough to model what an “edit attempt” or a “save attempt” is consistently across all features (mobile frontend, wikitext, VE, etc).
Happy to chat if you’re interested in helping out in this area.
Dario
