Commons got approx. 108M pageviews last month -
https://stats.wikimedia.org/wikispecial/EN/TablesPageViewsMonthlyOriginal.h…
This is slightly below Wiktionary, and about three times (all)
Wikibooks, or five times Wikiquote or Wikisource -
https://stats.wikimedia.org/EN/TablesPageViewsMonthlyAllProjects.htm
My understanding is that this will only count people who visit a
Commons file description page (or other page), but will not count any
of the following other ways to access a file:
* viewing a Commons file embedded in another wiki
* viewing a "local description" of the file on a page on which it's
embedded
* viewing a "local mirror" of a file description page on another wiki
* loading a file directly from
upload.wikimedia.org without going
through the Commons description page
(someone, please correct me if I'm wrong!)
So:
*
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Lozupone_katz2.png - counts, but
*
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katz%27s_Delicatessen - does not count
*
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katz%27s_Delicatessen#/media/File:Lozupone_ka…
- does not count
*
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lozupone_katz2.png - does not count
*
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/06/Lozupone_katz2.pn…
- does not count
This is consistent with the way the pagecounts work everywhere else,
but will mean that the Commons pageview data doesn't fully reflect all
the ways it's used.

Thanks Nemo. It looks like I can get most of what I
had in mind from
Wikistats.
I'm confused about
https://www.wikimedia.org/ though. If that list is sorted
by pageviews, I would expect Commons to outrank Wikinews by a large margin.
Are the viewership stats shown by project somewhere? I checked
https://reportcard.wmflabs.org but that mostly focuses on Wikipedia.

http://wikistats.wmflabs.org/ has this on the main page.
https://www.wikimedia.org/ is the easy way to remember the rank by "size",
which as always is determined by how used they are.
