Client-side URL redirects

Reporting here the results of some quick investigation we did on MediaWiki’s handling of redirects. Since this change [1] got merged, page redirects (such as en:Obama => en:Barack_Obama) refresh the URL client-side via Javascript. This doesn’t result in an extra HTTP request so the change should have no impact on pageview analysis based on the request logs. Scholarly citations by PMID/PMCID in Wikipedia

Hey all, we just released a dataset of scholarly citations in the English Wikipedia by Pubmed / Pubmed Central ID. http://dx.doi.org/10.6084/m9.figshare.1299540 The dataset currently includes the first known occurrence of a PMID or PMCID citation in an English Wikipedia article and the associated revision metadata, based on the most recent complete content dump of English Wikipedia. Amir and Neta, This is interesting research! What was the visualization decision process like? I've often seen large inter-connections visualized using Chord or Network diagrams, did you decide on a heat map because of some peculiarities of this dataset? Regards, Christy
