Hello once again,
We are just a week away from the African Wikimedia Developers (AWMD) Training! The much anticipated training will be led by the only volunteer developer of the Wikimedia Foundation on the continent. In the person of Alangi Derick https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Alangi_derick. He will be Joining us all the way from Cameroon and he is very delighted to share insights on how to stay relevant in the movement and the opportunities available to developers.
We often find less participation in projects like these, that seek to help developers improve their skills and learn in an ecosystem that is very dynamic. Some light is shed on the project in a blog post by Truston Ailende http://trustonteachestech.blogspot.com.ng/2017/06/african-wikimedia-developers-project.html as he expresses how AWMD intends to change the current trend.
If you still haven't had the time to acquaint yourself with some of the prerequisites for the training, kindly do so by visiting our page. https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/African_Wikimedia_Developers_Project Also, If you are unable to attend for any reason, please get in touch with jagyepong@openfoundationwestafrica.org to enable us extend the slot to the next available person.
The conversation continues on our mailing list https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/african-wikimedia-developers, our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/AfricanWikimediaDevelopers/ and on Twitter https://twitter.com/AfricanWikiDev!
*Venue: Impact Hub (Directions)* - https://goo.gl/maps/ne41hJJmhdm *Time: 10:00 am - 4:00pm*
Cheers.
Good job with the work you have done so far guys It's rather unfortunate I can't make it to Ghana for the event, but you can count me in for a full support (volunteer developer) when Cameroon is hosting.
Am always available to volunteer so we can build our community and make it better.
