Hi Abel,
Assuming by task you mean projects, It is possible for more projects to be added but that is the concern of the GSoC admin in Wikimedia. That shouldn't bother you :). There will probably not be enough projects for all interested students. So my advice to students will be to work hard and be the best per your mentor's judgment, on your project. Many students usually find themselves applying for the same project but only the best proposal(As per the mentor's judgment) is selected for the program.
Just in case you are a student, I will encourage you to apply and spread the word for your classmates to join. If you are not a student, you can still mentor a project.
Hoping I replied to your worry, Have a nice day.
Best regards,

Hi all!
I can't understand, but there are only for projects for GSoC with too many students, will there be other tasks added?

Hello everyone,
Wikimedia has been accepted as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2018!
We already have recruited six project ideas and mentors, but we are looking for a minimum of *14-15 ideas* more, as Google Summer of Code is a neat platform to bring new developers :) https://www.mediawiki.org/ wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/2018
If you are interested in mentoring a project, but not sure what the roles and responsibilities of a mentor are like, take a look at our guide: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Google_Summer_of_Code/Mentors. Feel free to propose your own idea, or help by mentoring one of the below listed, curated from the possible-tech-projects workboard:
- Tools for volunteers to make it easier to improve the Wikispeech

Pywikibot: Implement support for flagged revisions https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T57081 https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T57081
Sidenote: These are only ideas, and we do not encourage students to pick them unless we have recruited at least two mentors for a project.
We are also participating in Outreachy Round 16 and funding up to two projects: https://www.outreachy.org/communities/cfp/wikimedia/. Help us spread the word about Wikimedia's participation in these programs :)
Cheers, Srishti
