Hello all,
🎅Happy new month!🎅
We have heard a lot of your complains about the difficulties you face
trying to attend meetings on IRC. We decided to check with a few of you
what could best suit and ease your learning comfort. We then created an
AWMD Slack channel.
https://join.slack.com/t/africawikimed-3v51250/shared_invite/enQtODU1OTQ2Mz…
The IRC channel remains available and welcoming but we shall be hosting
most of our meetings and discussions on Slack. We are hoping this platform
will be more comfortable for you all in acquiring skills and getting
engaged.
*Note: The link expires after 30 days from now, so please join as soon as
you can.*
*Personal thought:* On a side note, a good thing to have will be a bot that
brings all slack conversations to IRC in real-time, just to have the 2
channels in sync. If anyone is interested in doing that please write to me,
let talk about it and hopefully build it. :)
Best,
Rosalie
On behalf of the Core Team.

Dear Developers,
We will like to thank you for your participation and contribution to the
Wikimedia projects with the goodwill of writing code.
This month we will like to colorfully mark two of or able and consistent
developers @Zoranzoki21 and @Ammarpad who devote their time to
submit patches during this time period.
We urge that you please tell us everything we need to do to help with your
developer works which is the main reason why we are working together.
Subsequently, we will send out messages about next important steps.
Thanks very much for you replies.
Cheers,
Eugene

Dear developers,
Hope you are having a good weekend. First I would like to apologize for the
recent silence from the core team concerning your request for meetings. We
have had some changes in the team and we had to take some time to re-plan
and restructure our goals and meeting cultures.
*==SAD news==*
Derick who was the Techlead for the project is no more with us. He had to
follow on some other projects and decided to leave for now. We are happy to
have had him among us and we wish him all the best for the next moves.
Samuel Guebo who was partnership manager also left the core team due to a
new role he has within wikimedia that warrant him to leave core positions
in local communities including AWMD. He is still with us in the project and
continue to contribute. We are happy he was part of the core and grateful
for his great contributions to the core team. We are also happy he is still
part of the project.
*==GOOD News==*
Eugene will be joining us to keep this project running smoothly. He will
handle the position of Tech lead and will assist volunteers in engagement.
He is very happy to work with us and we are very excited to have him on
board.
We will have our first Debug time meeting Also known as *Ask Me
Anything(AMA) *Next Saturday 9th November from *1pm to 6pm. *on our IRC
channel *#wikimedia-dev-africa. Please do not miss it as it is the
beginning of new ways of doing things. *We want to see how it works for
you.
Reply to this mail with any question if you have one.
Thank you and have a nice weekend, see you on IRC.
