Hi,
I received a few requests to check the status of Western Balochi incubator
(bgn).
The code bgn is legit, the translation of most-used messages is complete,
and the activity in the incubator is reasonable. A lot of pages are
written; many are just one or two lines long, but I don't think that I mind.
Do we want to verify that it's the right language?

I have approached the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS) in India, a WMF
grantee, whose Access To Knowledge program has been supporting and
encouraging the Tulu Wikipedia development efforts, to help identify a
scholar who could verify the content.

The language policy allows us to be flexible with how we interpret the
rules. My experience is that we are not using this flexibility. I made
several proposals over te last few years and they have all been torpedoed.
ASL is the latest example of this. It makes sense to allow for one
Wikipedia with SignWriting because it is the only way that we will get the
technical aspects of MediaWiki right. It means that issues will be exposed
in Commons and Wikidata as well.
This is denied for no reason that is clear to me.
I feel that when we cannot make use of the room the policy allows us, there
is no purpose for me to be a member.. It is up to the rest of the committee
to consider this. I hope that we will have an ASL Wikipedia in the near
future but if that is not to be, it and the implementation of the language
policy is no longer my active concern.

Have a look at this [1]. It clearly shows that a lot of work needs to be
done to get MediaWiki right for sign languages with SignWriting.
I propose that we let ASL be a Wikipedia It enables all the work that needs
doing to make it work properly. It deserves it imho as well.

Hi,
Now that the Wikipedia in that language is live, what should be the autonym
for the Jamaican Creole language?
Currently it's "Patois", which is probably incorrect. I can see different
names floating around: "Jamiekan", "Jamiekan Patwa", "Patwa", "Jamiekan
Kriyol", etc., and I don't know what to pick. It must be something unique
and identifiable to the language's speakers. The most common name that is
used in actual publications in Jamaica would be perfect.
Intuitively, I'd pick "Jamiekan" because it's short and unique, but I'm
really, really not an expert and I shouldn't decide it myself.

I've been told indirectly that the authors of the Tulu Wikipedia incubator
are trying and failing to contact the Langcom to ask whether their domain
can go live.
As far as I can see the analysis, the incubator is in good shape in terms
of activity:

Tulu Wikipedia is in incubation since 2007[1]. This was created as per the
request in Meta[2]. There has been a regular activity in Tulu Wikipedia
from last Two Years. There are about 68 editor with more than 10 edits.
Average number of active editors per month during last two years is 7.
Total number of articles is now more than 1000. All required strings have
been translated. Considering all these facts, I hereby, on behalf of Tulu
Wikipedian Community, make a formal request to make Tulu Wikipedia Live.
There were discussions during the Tulu Wikipedian meetup held at Mangaluru
on 15 February 2016, about the language code and script to be used. And it
has been decided that (1) the language code will be "tcy" and (2) the
script to be used will be Kannada[3].

Dear Mr.,As shown in the new edition of Ethnologue, Tunisian Arabizi (One of the Latin Scripts used for Tunisian) has been recognized as a common script for Tunisian Arabic. As it is the most used script in Internet, we will use it in Wp/aeb. I have slightly modified this method so that it can be converted to Arabic Script. I have created a script converter for Tunisian Arabizi and I will implement it with explanations very soon. However, I need to test it before. So, you are invited to change the name of Tunisian Arabic in Latin Script into Tounsi and change the editing software of Tunisian Arabic Wikipedia into Left to Right format. Thank you in advance. When these changes are approved, I will publish the Arabizi Converter and guidelines for Tunisian Arabic dialects.

Dear Mr.,I thank you for your interest in our work. Even if it has not developed online in these months, it has certainly developed offline.The problem of Script has been solved as SIL International has recognized Tunisian Arabizi as a Latin Script for Tunisian. So, we can create the Tunisian WIkipedia in Latin Script mainly because it is the most used writing method online. I have seen the discussion of the committee in http://langcom.wikimedia.narkive.com/OjenAzCc/languages-that-are-arabic. I have to tell Mr. Gerard Meijssen that Arabizi can be converted to Arabic Script if we add to it the guidelines I created and that are explained in the work about Tunisian Arabic in English Wikipedia. So, I can developed a slightly modified version of Arabizi that is convertible to Arabic Script in months.
