Great job with the Lua program Surya. Very proud of the Tamil wikipedia.
I did the translation using machine and my personal interpretations.

This is true. I'll do my best to reach out to translators earlier for
the next editions. EdwardsBot can only post in one language at a time,
but I'll try to make it more visible that translations are available
on meta.

It looks like people could use this template on a main page to display a
featured article, a user, changes from the current month, and so on. (I
ran the Tamil documentation through Google Translate and didn't
understand everything; an English translation would be welcome, as would
a TODO list for future options to add.)
Surya Prakash is at suryaceg{{(a)}}gmail.com. Thanks to Surya, Yuvi, and
the organizers of the Chennai event!
Thanks,

Hi all,
The event went very well. About 70-80 people from various open source /
open content communities attended the sessions over two days. Apart from
the usual benefits, Tamil Wikipedia has gained an important tool -
automated front page maintenance. The code for this was written using Lua
by Surya Prakash under the guidance of Yuvipanda. If other wiki projects
want to make use of this, it is available at
http://ta.wikipedia.org/wiki/Module:Main_page. Please get in touch with
Surya if you need any help.
A special shout out to Dwarak and team of Mozilla India, for making this
excellent event happen. We hope to have more such open weekend events in
Chennai regularly.

Greetings,
The second edition of the Tech News newsletter was just published:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News/2013/22
As a reminder: The Tech News weekly summaries help you monitor recent
and upcoming software changes likely to impact you and your fellow
Wikimedians.
Please consider translating this page into your language(s), and
advertising it to your fellow editors on your wiki.
If you haven't already, consider subscribing to get the next edition
directly on your talk page:
https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Global_message_delivery/Targets/Tech_ambass…
This is the second edition of a newsletter that we'll try to send on a
weekly basis. This is an ambitious goal, so please consider
contributing, even if it's just to add a link to a new feature or
recently-fixed bug: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Tech/News
We've fixed a few things based on the feedback provided on the first
issue. Feedback is still encouraged and appreciated.
Please help us make this better and more useful to you. You can
comment here or on the talk page:

Hi, we have now a mailing list dedicated to software quality assurance:
https://lists.wikimedia.org/mailman/listinfo/qahttp://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/qa/
We hope this list will be useful to editors of Wikimedia projects
interested in testing and software quality, and willing to volunteer in
these activities. No technical experience is required as long as you
don't mind some technical discussions and you are willing to learn.
See the rationale and background below.
-------- Original Message --------
Subject: First post (almost)
Date: Wed, 22 May 2013 15:14:15 -0700
From: Quim Gil <qgil(a)wikimedia.org>
Organization: Wikimedia Foundation
To: qa(a)lists.wikimedia.org
Welcome to the QA list!
This mailing list is an umbrella to host people and discussions focusing
on software quality assurance in all its aspects: exploratory testing,
browser automation testing, unit testing, continuous integration, the
beta cluster, bug management and community QA activities.
We hope this list becomes useful to integrate and retain people
primarily interested in testing / QA. We are seeing many people
interested in testing from different angles. Some people are current
developers willing to learn and discuss more about this topic, best
practices, etc. Some are people new to the community that see testing /
QA as a way to contribute in technical tasks other than development.
This specialized list follows the good results offered by precedents
like the Analytics, Design of Editor Engagement lists. wikitech-l
subscribers will still receive the deep & wide QA related announcements.
No teams comfortable with the status quo will be encouraged to change
their current communication practices because of this list.
There is a bit more background at
https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48057
Now, who's next?

Hello all,
In the last weeks, I have been applying protocol-relative URLs in links
with an HTTP defined protocol, and converting links from external to
internal link format with my bot in all content pages of some (few)
Wikimedia projects (please see details in [1]). I think this is an
important task to allow users to navigate without changing the protocol
in use, and I will prepare and post the regular expressions in a few
days so they can be used by other bot operators.
However, most of the projects are still pending, this task is not
included in GBs scope, the community is raising many doubts, and I think
that, in some way, running this task on all pages and projects, even
without exceptions, should be allowed.
What can we do? Is there a common and workable solution? Best regards,
and thanks in advance. :-)
