(Talking entirely of the University of Edinburgh and not other
universities based in Edinburgh, as I have no knowledge about them.)
Anything based in Edinburgh would have to be at the latest mid-July, due
to the festival in August taking up any venue worth thinking about. The
biggest lecture it has only housed 490, but it does have the McEwan Hall
where (among other things) graduation take place. Which also mean it
limit dates to literally only mid-July due to graduation all week end
June early July. Accommodation should be no problem given it house all
the tourist for the festival.
(Despite liking the idea very much) I doubt it would help financially
either, looking at how much it charge even its student and parents for
venue & accommodation. It loves its Informatics department, but they are
world renown for AI rather than things that may be closer to what WMF
does. The city does have lots of museums and a national library though.
I can ask though of course. Probably can do better than just a stranger
asking given some of the contacts I have, but I'll only do that if
enough interest are shown.
