And by coincidence I am writing a proposal to "Awards for All" for a
small local history group this afternoon....

UCL are very keen and I have someone who is willing to act as a go-between
between us and them, so to speak. He's too busy to be actually organising
anything himself but he can help us. His concern was that as soon as we had
something more concrete and a "tighter bid" he would be able to help us more
by knowing who to contact and so on. He also felt a big issue was
accomodation, I said that people can organise that themselves and stay in
their accomodation, and he said he would look in to that and to keep him
posted.
Kinds regards
Gary

Looking at Atlanta and Toronto... no :(

The bid page on meta was moved from the unofficial to an official bid in the
format the others use (Wikimania 2008/Bids/XX) but this was reverted by
Aphaia ("revert; unless you are the bidding team, you are better to leave
it: only official bids should be there") - what is "the bidding team"? Do
people have to commit to something, is it Wikimedia UK? Needs sorting
urgently else we can't enter - deadline *tomorrow* people, as in, under 24
hours...
I received a reply from a professor at UCL who Sam organised it with last
year and they are "keen". I'll continue contact with him.

Note that Queen Mary College is 3 km or so from the site of the
London Olympics 2012.

Purely because "that's what we did last year", I concentrated on looking at
UCL and contacting them. UCL is, however, not the only campus university in
London [1]. I was thinking, is it too lateto start looking about at others?
Can we keep our options open even after our bid is"official" from Thursday?
For anyone who has had trouble finding the London bid page to update it -
ahem - it's here:

Thanks very much Sam - the London WM08 bid page is currently at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimania_2008/London (this was snipped
from the mail I replied to :-)).

Alison's away for the weekend though and won't be back until Tuesday, I
believe, so it may be a little while before she replies.
