This is extremely strange. Talk pages are part of the article history.
Ortega's thesis should be updated, perhaps.

Indeed. I've always opposed deleting of any talk pages, but the rules
are not build to facilitate research :(
Mind you, on en wiki some very interesting deletions were lost when
their accompanying articles (or in some cases, policy pages and such)
were deleted... :(
