The point is one of process.  I am aware of FPTP and its problems, and I 
certainly feel that we could improve on that method.  The time to do 
that comes before the election starts.  There may be merit in approval 
voting; it may also have its down side.  I can't say for sure.

What creates disrepute is the sudden adoption of these things *after* 
the election process has started.  Did we learn nothing from our 
experience with the logo vote?
