What's more, GMT is now deprecated in favour of UTC,
Coordinated Universal Time (the initialism shows you
that
it's the fault of the French that Greenwich is now
ignored),
which is based on the oscillation of caesium ions,
with leap seconds added from time to time to keep the
hour
in line with the sunlight, more or less.

Except they aren't: Paris (and all of France) is one
hour ahead of GMT.
(No big deal, but I wanted to correct this before the
error snuck into
the
Wikipedia.)

GMT is deprecated in favor of UTC ???
Funny, I never realised you were not using GMT :-)))

Precision : Paris (and all of France) is one hour OR
two hours ahead of GMT, depending on the season (we
switch in spring and autumn). We decided to go ahead
or backward for energy saving many many years ago
(probably around 1974 ?).
