I agree on this point. If one is giving access to confidential 
information, then it is confidential. Period. There is no reason to 
consider a spouse a special case. Or a brother. Or the best friend.

And IF the information is indeed given to the spouse, then the best that 
can happen is that absolutely no one knows or even suspect that the 
spouse has the information. The spouse must be absolutely mute on the 
whole matter.
