Even though as a general rule administrators try not to block AOL IP's 
for the exact reason you mentioned which is the fact that a lot of 
people use them, sometimes it has to be done to stem the tide of 
vandalism temporarily.  You can also stop wasting your effort with AOL, 
people have been trying for eons trying to get AOL to listen and as far 
as I know they haven't done a single thing about it.
