i specifically asked people not to discuss reasons we should/shouldn't
use Windows, so i'm not going to reply to the rest of this mail.

however, i will point out that if each RDP session used 512kbit/s
continuously, it would take 1,953 concurrent sessions to saturate the
bandwidth of a single GE NIC.  (the total bandwidth of the knams site
is much higher.)
