[Mediawiki-l] Installing on a read only file system

Why don't you set up Apache and MySQL on your system, run the
instillation and then copy the completed directory over?

It has to do with how we manage code.  Basicly, I cannot touch that file
system directly, however I can ask a program to cp a file onto it (more
or less.  Its more complicated than that).  If I have a pre-generated
file, I can have it copied to that filesystem.  I cannot just create a
new file on it though.  Although changing the config file to write to a
totally different directory and then copy it over might work-  I'll try
it out.

Ehm, maybe a stupid question, but if the filesystem is readonly, I
assume the read-only wil have to be lifted in order to install new
software on it (like the wiki).

Either make the configuration part of the install process or (and?) Make
the LocalSettings.php and the images directory a link (hard link) to
somewhere on a read/write filesystem.

LocalSettings assumes that you might want to change some parameters at
some point, the images directory assumes that you want to enable
uploads.
