[Foundation-l] New editor fundraising appeal

Hi guys,

I'm sorry I missed this thread for a few days. It's actually kind of
difficult to compare exactly how the current editor appeals perform
relative to Jimmy. For one thing, we're not actually testing them against
Jimmy right now. We took the Jimmy banners down on Nov. 22. Also, since
the fundraiser has been up for a few weeks now, our daily donation totals
are lower than they were while Jimmy was running at the launch of the
campaign- similar to the pattern we saw last year.

The editor appeals we're running are not necessarily as effective as
Jimmy's appeal in terms of donations raised per hour or day, but they are a
very valuable part of the fundraiser. It's really important to highlight
our editors and share their stories with readers as well as to give Jimmy's
appeal a break. Readers seem to appreciate this too. Here are just two
comments that donors sent in today:

"The appeals are well-done. I like the variety of solicitors -- ages,
backgrounds, reasons. It was the collective voice that moved me to donate,
not just one person."

"It's a good idea to show/tell stories from different people, not just the
founder, but regular people, like you're already doing."

I can't report on chapter testing results because I have not been analyzing
their data or keeping up with all their current campaigns, but I believe
most chapters have been running a rotation of Jimmy, Brandon and Susan
appeals. Wikimedia France has been testing an appeal from their president
as well.

Hope that helps. Sorry for the delay in replying. .
