Well, it is theoretically possible. All you need is just breaking  
speed of light. It has been long announced in various wikimedia  
development places, volunteers needed.

Once you're logged in, there's more than just article state - there's  
also session state, etc.
Syncing it all up gets somewhat more complicated, and either conflict  
resolution has to be done, or multiple checks, which become far less  
efficient than standalone request.
