A Wikimania spread out across geographical locations, so that each
person would have a choice of which one to go to, would accomplish a
similar goal.
It wouldn't allow people from such disparate locations to meet each
other face-to-face, but with the number of people who do so being so
tiny (a few hundred people) I don't see the great benefit to that.
