Simply not true. Federal recognition may imply verifiability, but it
isn't the same thing. We have plenty of articles on unaccredited
"universities" (aka Diploma Mills), they are perfectly verifiable even
if they aren't formally recognised. You logic would suggest we should
get rid of all of them too.
