It's not always the case that a Trustee is prevented from receiving a 
fair salary for work done.  Some places make a specific exclusion for that.

Nevertheless, even where it is legally allowed, the by-laws may provide 
differently.  Where a non-profit allows it the gap in perceptions can 
widen very quickly.
