Recently, one of the vandal fighters from the german wikipedia,
User:DerHexer spent four days actively on the english Wikipedia. For
those able to read german, see his report here:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:DerHexer/Vier_Tage_in_der_englischsprachigen_Wikipedia.
His talk page on the english Wikipedia is also quite interesting.

After four days, he had 4672 Edits removing vandalism. To him it
looked like he was alone with the bot de:User:MartinBot, except on one
day, the bot didn't work and he removed vandalism rather lonely. Note
that he removed almost only edits where pages were blanked.

So, while I believe that sighted (aka unvandalized) versions will
solve most of these problems, at least for the readers, there might be
more needed than new software.

Bye,

Philipp
