In case anyone is still following up to this, it turns out that the 
server seizure was ordered by the Swiss and Italian governments, who 
requested that the FBI carry it out as it was hosted by a 
US-headquartered company (Rackspace). The FBI apparently is bound by a 
legal assistance treaty it has with the two European governments, so 
honored the request.
