In order to support the continued growth and use of the Wikidata Query Service, Discovery https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Discovery and Technical Operations https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Technical_Operations are upgrading the hardware of the service.
We're adding a single extra server to both our Virginia (eqiad https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Eqiad_cluster) and Dallas (codfw https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Codfw_cluster) data centres. These servers will be dedicated to the Wikidata Query Service.
We're expecting this upgrade to take a few months, and we'll keep you updated as things progress.
