Well done to everyone who helped make it a success, including
Alvesgaspar, Michael Maggs, Bryan, Gmaxwell, LadyofHats, Dschwen,
Herbythyme, Shyam,
Comments about how we can improve the running of the competition are
welcome here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons_talk:Picture_of_the_Year/2006/Future
At a minimum I imagine the 2007 competition will involve
* written-down, defined procedures for vote counting and vote validity
* volunteers for roles determined prior to opening the competition
* possible simplification of voting process/work on clearer
explanations of how to vote
* possibly multiple categories such as 'Wikimedian work of the year'
(maybe also technical/subject matter categories - the fact that the
two animations in the final came 10th and 11th is not a coincidence,
IMO - people don't consider that an animation could be 'grand' enough
to be POTY, probably)
* more publicity in non-English projects and channels
* consider different voting schemes (but... need to keep things simple)
cheers
Brianna
