We were told that only a Google group was possible but since we could get
that from the web itself and since Google can change its policies, the
consensus was to go for a mailman list on Wikimedia server due to its
permanency.
However, if mailman program can be put in place on the Wikimedia.in server
and space promised permanently for the archives, that would be great. As of
now the Wikimedia people noted that a lot of list requests come from India.
In future they may be chary to give more lists especially to our smaller
communities and language groups, especially at the rate we are growing.

Ashwin Baindur

This is really something to cheer about! A state level article is a
Featured Article & on Main Page too! If only all our state articles
became FAs. Kudos to the editors involved! Very good job done! Huge
achievement. :)

Thanks Tinu, Sankarshan, for images of Pune Meetup 3.
For those who attended, could we have a small brief (or even better a
blog post) about what transpired for those who missed the meet?
As of now, this is a problem. Meets dont get reported. People forget
that the written report of what transpired is absolutely necessary for
the community. A few uncaptioned photos or newspaper clippings are of
no use.
This is contrary to the Wikipedia spirit of free flow of information.
Inadequate reporting of a Wikipedia meetup is a contradiction of
sorts.

To all Puneri Wikipedians (both tatya and non-tatya),
Gosh, just saw the grand scale of events planned in Bangalore. Pune's
missing on the list.
We need to be on the world map guys. Has anyone planned anything? Our
Marathi Wikipedia crowd?
I suggest one or all or even better more of the following be organised :
* Newbie meet (I volunteer to give an editing tutorial session in English
cum Marathi by me but on English Wikipedia. I could be partnered by someone
showing the same for Marathi Wikipedia).
* Marathi Wikipedia Meetup.
* Wikimedia loves Pune photothon, where people go and photograph Pune's
landmarks and add them to Commons.
* Outreach activities to schools/colleges?
* Any takers for birdwatching a la Bangalore/Shyamal?
Warm regards,
Ashwin Baindur

Hi friends,
Whoever is coordinating Liam Wyatt's schedule in Mumbai is requested
to please arrange the volunteers meetup with him on the evening of
13th if possible. Pune Wikipedians are having an event all day on 12th
at GNUNIFY. That will enable us to attend the meetup in time.

Hi Hisham,
Welcome to the community. We hope you'll start auspiciously by doing a
few edits on Wikipedia on a subject you love. The community in India
is alive and kicking and we hope this new year is one where all
stakeholders get together and achieve great things.
Welcome, once again.

Dear Shiju,
Thanks for this link. I was not aware of its existence. It will definitely
make things easier for me. I am planning to take up the geography section
first of all. Will let you all know once I prepare the scratch-pad page for
choosing Geography articles and will let you know.
Warm regards,
Ashwin Baindur
