Thanks for sharing - would definitely be appreciated if we had .SVG formats to use. We're encountering this problem with some of the really beautiful stuff people have uploaded on the Wikipedia 10 gallery on Commons
- lots of great stuff, but it's all PNG, which means we can't print them off
as big banners :(
So if anyone has the ability, would be great if you could also upload SVG versions alongside PNGs. Even if we can't get it done in time, would be great to have these as part of the historical record.

Unlike svg files, other format images do not scale well. Some svg files can scale infinitely. Inkscape is available on Ubuntu as well. I took the liberty to add Shymal L to the loop. He's our resident expert for svg and inkscape issues. User:Planemad would be another, but he's recuperating from a fracture.

Unlike svg files, other format images do not scale well. Some svg files can scale infinitely. Inkscape is available on Ubuntu as well. I took the liberty to add Shymal L to the loop. He's our resident expert for svg and inkscape issues. User:Planemad would be another, but he's recuperating from a fracture.

PNG version is not editable in Inkscape. If main creator create with Inkscape and share the same file , then it fine for editing.

Thanks for sharing - would definitely be appreciated if we had .SVG formats to use. We're encountering this problem with some of the really beautiful stuff people have uploaded on the Wikipedia 10 gallery on Commons - lots of great stuff, but it's all PNG, which means we can't print them off as big banners :(
So if anyone has the ability, would be great if you could also upload SVG versions alongside PNGs. Even if we can't get it done in time, would be great to have these as part of the historical record.
