Hello!
Wikimedia Sverige is thinking of arranging screenings of Truth in numbers. Do you think it is a good idea?

I think it would be wonderful - but you would definitely need to combine it with an afterwards discussion. Ideally, it would be nice if you also would take notes of that discussion and collect the feedback as far as it is useful to Wikipedia. Because the main value here is in the afterwards discussion I think, because it puts people to thinking. I can imagine that you show it to students, teacher associations, random people and organizations of farmers' wives and see how they react differently :)
Do we have the connections to clear the rights for this?
Best,
Lodewijk

That would be great. Would it be posible to screen it in other countries at or around the same day with local debates?

Liam and I were on a panel with one of the directors last night in New York City @ the Paley Center (I was in person, he by skype), and I got to talk with the distributors after the event.
a) their primary distributors are the people who worked on RIP: http://ripremix.com/ I just found out last night; this is good news.
b) everyone can stream the film for free for the next few weeks from snagfilms.com, one of their online channels: http://www.snagfilms.com/films/title/truth_in_numbers_everything_according_t...
c) we can arrange wikipedia screenings through them, but do need permission. They want the film to generate discussions useful to the movement as much as possible. I believe a screening in Germany and one at the Drumbeat Festival in Barcelona are already planned. My understanding is that any event designed to generate recorded debate and followup, or translating the extending into a new language, would be welcome. If we make a list of wiki-X screenings we can ask for permission for all of them at once.
d) they are thinking about creative ways to run a series of outreach/publicity events around the film; getting new audiences to read or edit or talk about a favorite topic [the end of the film has a cute sequence in which many of the non-wikipedians interviewed for the film are asked if they have read their own bio, and shown a copy - then watched as they read over it. this could be repeated with local celebs in each place where there's a screening.]
In general, I like the film a lot more after seeing it for the second time, in a very different audience (and seeing their live reactions).

Streaming seems limited to certains regions of the world.
I cannot see the film in France (see attached screenshot).

I get a "currently not available for streaming in your region" message on this site, so I guess everyone will mostly mean North America... :-(
Best regards, Bence
Sound like interesting event, I think maybe we can arrange a nice cocktail for the volunteers and other people who will want to "celebrate" with us - and them show them the movie in a cinema here, and arranging such a panel after that.
I will be happy to know if the foundation will can arrange the chapters who want to do that..

I think it a bad idea - the film was poorly received in Poland, and it is seriously out of date. Liam Wyatt spoke up afterwards and said that he felt "attacked" by the film - he wasn't the only one.
