Hi, everyone.
As Steven said, we (organizers) will recieve some machandises from Wikimedia Foundation. So does this mean our events was supprted by WMF and we (can|are recommended to) show "Supported: Wikimedia Foundation" on announcement etc.?
We (Wikimedians in Kansai, organizing [[Kyoto]]) will do if possible.
Hi there,
I suppose Ao-san made a question if WMF would be pleased to be credited as "sponsors" at local WikiX events due to merchandise goods offering. Personally I think it wouldn't appropriate to call it "affiliate" nor "co-organize", since WMF doesn't get involved into organizing each local events like ours in details, and I take it inappropriate attendees to misunderstand WMF is responsible for organizing particular local events.
but also I feel it's accountable for us at local organizing teams to have attendees know who offers T-shirt etc. they'll get.
So let me reword his question: Is it okay for WMF to be credited as one of sponsors of local events, or do you guys prefer any other kind of mention? We at WiKansai is now setting up for registration page, so the sooner we get the reply, the more we're grateful.
Cheers,

This is probably a good FAQ for all of the local events -- best practice in crediting the WMF as a sponsor if the event gets tshirts or other sponsorship from the foundation.
Happy holidays, all! Phoebe

Hi folks - I think it's fine if you'd like to suggest that WMF is a sponsor. Sponsors don't have to be strictly financial sponsors. 'media sponsors' are often credited at major events and they simply provide special media coverage, or dedicate their outlets to special coverage of the event.
You could say 'merchandise sponsor' or 'in-kind sponsor' - or anything you like. You're not required to, but it would be nice to include that :)
Thanks! jay

Hi to all,
According to the Macedonian Law on donations and sponsorships in the public activities, the donor and the receiver must have a written contract. So we are in specific legal situation, if we want to say in public that WMF is our 'merchandise sponsor' we must have written contract (WMF and WMM). :)

Ah, then in that case we'll trust you to use your best judgement about what keeps things a simple as possible. We definitely don't want to make things more complex for anyone hosting a celebration :)
