Great discussion. I think everyone should feel free to phrase messages using words they're most comfortable with. The messages are just a guide. Like Lodivck mentioned, everything provided for the 10 year celebrations have been created so you can remix and localize as you see fit. :)
Regarding reasons for *why* we're working to diversify our community of contributors, you can find a recent study by UNU-Merit ( http://wikipediastudy.org/) which found that our editors are on average 25 years or age, only about 12% female and are "highly educated."
Again, please feel free to use whatever you think will resonate with people in your country. The main goal is to educate people about exactly who we are and the importance of the work that we do and then invite more people to join us.

Also note that even within the US, our editors don't quite represent the population (e.g. It would be great to have more minorities).
So I think it's both global representation and diversity that we need and some wording like that.
