Dear ALL In the light of consolidating plans for Wikispore, it would be desirable also to advance Communication. Last meetings made me think how we have spectrum of people who have focus on different aspects of work and can feel a bit estranged when we are discussing just one tech, content, organizing, finances, outreach...
We are far from being ripe as a community and many of us have not worked together, so to get closer to a flow and get ready for actions I would suggest we at least share overview and ideally connect some of existing channels but also have their mindful use and attention of peers.
Seems like there are many options already:
#0 Wikispore.org's Centralized discussion https://wikispore.wmflabs.org/wiki/Greenhouse *(my impression is under-used not attended/maintained)
#1 mailing list as lowest level standard great for non-urgent solid info as has most people and searchable archive *(my impression is that it should remain official and public)
#2 telegram group has 24 people and bit more active, was especially so after the birthday online event *(my impression is that it will be relevant for social aspects)
#3 Wikimedia Chat channel #wikispore with 13 people was so far tech topics focused like WIKISPORE-Tech(?) https://chat.wmcloud.org/wikimedia/channels/wikispore *(my impression is that it should be explicitly so + IRC linked)
#4 IRC ... did we even start using IRC? Who would? When?
I know few people avoid messengers and would like to stick to not only Free/Libre/OpenSourceSoftware, but also standards, so it would be important to bridge (technically and socially) both Wikisporians and activities relating to Wikispore.
Please reply if you want to join or avoid any of the channels directly to Richard/Pharos and me to advance this situation. If you have an observation or other input please email the list!
Best Z. Blace *(sorry for taking much space but wanna get us move)
