Hi wikispore-ites,
I'm looking forward to seeing how wikispore gets going.
In preparation for a possible sister project, the WikiJournal User Group
<https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/WikiJournal_User_Group> has been running a
small test wiki at the arbitrary url of wikipediajournal.com.
Would it be more sensible to migrate that over to a wikispore server? What
would the benefits and limitations be?
All the best,
Thomas
My fellow sporophytes,
I'd like to welcome you to Wikisporadic #1, the Inaugural Issue of an
Occasional Newsletter for our Germinating Community.
We'll cover four branch areas for the community, and a suggested Wikispring
schedule.
==Social branch==
Wikispore is a fairly social project. The idea came out of the NYC Wiknic
in July, took form at Wikimania in August, and was first visible after
launch at Wikidatacon in October.
We're hoping to take it to the next level at WikiConference North America
in November.
We're on Twitter, and have 14 followers!
https://twitter.com/wikispore
We have a mailing list of course, and a Telegram channel too.
==Tech branch==
We have a wiki on Wikimedia Cloud Services, now live with https working,
parserfunctions, and a bunch of leaves:

The short-term limitation is not having OAuth, which we should get soon.
In the meantime, we recommend you create a new account for the wiki with
your existing username, but with a different password.
Our long-term plan for full Wikidata integration is called "Wikisprout",
and we're currently at Stage 2, getting on the Interwiki map:

==Spore branch==
This is the basic concept for mini-wikis for various genres as an
experiment:
https://wikispore.wmflabs.org/wiki/Spores
And these are the two that are most ready for prime time:

==Policy branch==
This is our version of the Five Pillars:
https://wikispore.wmflabs.org/wiki/Tripod
And some more on sourcing, though not as developed:

==Wikispring==
I'd like to suggest some ideas for collaborative editing on the wiki:
Wed Oct 30 - Tue Nov 5: Policy and spore leaves
Wed Nov 6 - Tue Nov 12: Event Spore, and this as a potential focus -

**Letters from the editors**
Questions? Ideas? Concerns? Ask in this thread!
Thanks,
Richard
