Perhaps it was just the reason Drini once claimed LP means any
Wikiquote project must equip its own EDP if it keep collecting fair
use quotes. And as an admin of English Wikiquote which accept quotes
from copyrighted works greedily for now, I am very concerned about
that consequence.

Yes, definitely. Since mention to the quotes on English Wikipedia
version are sketchy and the shapes of content are different (largely
quotes-only-content vs. quotes as reference and only small part of
content), instruction from Mike will be greatly appreciated.

I'd like to consider something more Wikiquote-specific if we could.
Commons has a button:

Perhaps we could do something similar? Here's are two possibilities based
on quotes from a 19th-century collection:

Best Thoughts of the Best Authors" (1853), p. 232: "Quotation is the

appoint a new Treasurer to its Board of Trustees, effective December
2007. The term for the current Treasurer has ended.
The Wikimedia Board of Trustees manages the Foundation and supervises
the disposition and solicitation of donations. The Board of Trustees
is the ultimate corporate authority in the Wikimedia Foundation Inc.
Board members are unpaid volunteers who are excited about supporting
the international charitable mission of the Wikimedia Foundation: to
bring free knowledge to the entire planet.

Required duties include, but are not limited to the following:
* Manage, with the finance committee to be created, the board's review
of and action related to the board's financial responsibilities;
* Work with the chief executive to ensure that appropriate financial
reports are made available to the board. Regularly reviews reports to
board on key financial events, trends, concerns, and assessment of
fiscal health;
* May work directly with the bookkeeper or other staff in developing
and implementing financial procedures and systems;
* Serves as support to the financial officer of the organization and
as chairperson of the finance committee;

board for approval;
* Review the annual audit and answers board members' questions about the

* Has previously served as a treasurer on another non-profit board (at
least five years);
* Willing to commit time for board meetings, committee meetings and
special events;
* Works well in a group, is able to work with a decentralized
international team, using electronic communication tools.

It is expected that the Treasurer will be able to attend four meetings
per year, which may possibly be held outside of the USA. In addition,
participation in the Foundation's annual conference would be
preferred. Cost of attending these meetings will be reimbursed. Other
time expectations would be reviewing quarterly reports, budgets, and
policies and helping to oversee the audit process.

we had no Wikiquote banner.

The Jury for Wikimania 2008 bids have met and are pleased to announce
that Wikimania 2008 will be held in Alexandria, Egypt.
The Bids were assessed by a Jury[0] which included community members
representing various geographical areas, and organisers of the previous
conferences. The Jury used 12 criteria[1] to judge the bids, which were
drawn up based on the Jury's previous experiences organising the
conference and with input from a wide range of community concerns.
Alexandria was found to be particularly strong in the areas of
reflecting the Wikimedia Foundation's roots in geo-diversity and
multi-lingualism, of the very exciting nature of the proposed venue
and its local facilities, and of the particularly advanced nature of
the financial planning.
All three Bids were very strong in differing ways, each with stronger
and weaker points. We would like to draw particular attention to the
efforts of the team behind the Atlanta bid, which came in second place
and was particularly commendable in the areas of providing in-facility
accommodation and social space, and for doing great outreach to local
Wikimedians. Their efforts could serve as an example to any team
hoping to get the local community involved. The Cape Town bid was
marked strongly by the Jury for cultural diversity, a particularly
benign local environment, and efforts to secure local recognition and
facilities. We'd especially like to congratulate Cape Town on
providing our very first strong bid from the Southern Hemisphere.
A table of the results is given below. Each member of the jury had up
to 60 points to allocate to the bids in each of the 12 categories,
which they did after a period of discussion and careful deliberation.

Note that a 13th category, on personal preference, was polled but is

wondering whether your city could have done the same, to consider
bidding for Wikimania 2009, for which the decision will begin very

within the next few days.
We are especially looking forward to the Wikimedia Foundation
collaborating with one of the most famous repositories of knowledge in
the world, and emphasising the newly developing Wikimedia projects in
Africa and the Middle East. We would like to encourage the entire
