This will make sure that Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia wikis can stay online even after a disaster. To make sure everything is working, the Wikimedia Technology department needs to do a planned test. This test will show if they can reliably switch from one datacenter to the other. It requires many teams to prepare for the test and to be available to fix any unexpected problems. They will switch all traffic back to the primary data center on *Tuesday, October 27 2020*. Unfortunately, because of some limitations in MediaWiki <https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:What_is_MediaWiki%3F>, all editing must stop while the switch is made. We apologize for this disruption, and we are working to minimize it in the future. *You will be able to read, but not edit, all wikis for a short period of time.* - You will not be able to edit for up to an hour on Tuesday, October 27. We are happy to confirm that the Wikipedia app is available on the top 3 mobile phone operating system platforms in India - Android, iOS and newly KaiOS, which is provided through Jiophones [1]. Jiophone users can download and install the Wikipedia app on the JioStore. This first release is focused on how to make it easier to read Wikipedia on a phone that does not have a touch screen. The platform supports over 100 languages for reading, and we appreciate that volunteers have fully translated the Wikipedia app user interface into five Indian languages so far: Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Odia, and Punjabi. The app will continue to have updates and reach more countries over time. If you (or someone you know) own a Jiophone, please give the app a try by downloading it from the JioStore. Update from Satpal as a community advocate

Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well. This mail is regarding my work as a community advocate and this is a kind of update that what I am doing. Actually I was not doing my scanning work because of COVID-19 and my focus was editathon about Coronavirus on Punjabi Wikipedia and some other work tasks from A2K team like I am working on a research project. So, this is an update that I have started my scanning work now. I am scanning Alochana magazine's editions which were not done and they are rare or important. I am doing this work safely from my place in Patiala, Punjab. I will also try to contact some Punjabi authors to release their content on Punjabi Wikisource. Needs assessment for Wikidata Movement Resource

Hello Wikimedians, CIS-A2K is planning to invest some resources from May-June 2020 to create community movement resource (CMR) materials in English and different Indic languages for Wikidata in the form of tutorials, handbooks, infographics, videos, animations etc. The aim of this initiative is to build a pool of resource materials for Wikidata eventually, which will serve as ready-made handy references for new as well as experienced users. Indic language Wikisource Skill Share

Hi Punjabi Wikisource Community, As COVID-19 has forced the Wikimedia communities to stay at home and like many other affiliates, CIS-A2K has decided to suspend all offline activities till 15th September 2020 (or till further notice).I present to you for an online training session for future coming months. 1. Wikisource Skill Share,[1] a capacity-building initiative, where Indic Wikisource contributors, both newcomers and experienced, can share knowledge and skills with each other and clear confusions. Most of the time, it will be done online on 1:1 basis, so it is just the right time to participate there if you have not planned to do it or done it already. Let's learn Wikisource together! I would like to invite experienced Indic Wikisource contributors and sign your name at Willing to respond section [2]. Newcomer or any Indic Wikisource contributors are welcome to join the session with your queries and doubts. 2. Intensive Personalized Training (or IPT),[3] this also a capacity-building initiative, where Indic Wikisource contributors, especially newcomers could come with his/her queries and doubts. I, myself will share my knowledge and skills with each contributor and clear confusions. It will be done online on a 1:1 basis, so it is just the right time to participate there if you have not planned to do so. 3. Online Proofread-edithon for all 12 Indic Wikisource language projects. We are planning for an indic level online proofreadthon from 1 May 2020 to 10 May 2020. The book of the subject will be the classical literature of your languages.
