Dear Ajit babu,
Subhashish here. Hope you remember meeting the Odia Wikipedia community at Srujanika last
year. I met Pushpashree apa recently and heard about the progress on the OCR front.
Odia OCR is something that is going to be really useful for the Odia community
specifically the Wikimedia community. We are organizing a discussion forum and workshop
during the 29th and 30th of this month to discuss certain such topics related Odia
language and computing. So, I would like to take the privilege to invite you for this
event. The first day (29th) of the event is planned for the general public and the second
day is planned for the Wikimedia community. Please do let me know if it would be possible
for you to present about the Odia OCR initiatives and progress.
The other thing is about the prototype OCR package for Odia. Is there any place where the
source code and test files are found? If not could I request for creating on
Github/Bibucket so that could be useful for the participants of this two day session to go
back and work on the code.
I have been sharing your work on the Akruti-Unicode converter with peers, students at
IIMC, Dhenkanal and it is really useful. We are planning to distribute DVDs containing
such applications that are available in Creative Commons licenses. I could not locate any
documentation and license notes for the two converters available at
https://bitbucket.org/rebati/rebati/downloads. Could I request you to create one so we
could add them in the DVD with attribution?
