The award ceremony for the contest Authors in Wikipedia was held in Milan on 26 November, kindly hosted by AICA http://www.aica.it/.
Matteo Molteni, student at Liceo Scientifico “Galileo Galilei” of Erba (CO), won the prize for the category "New original articles" with the article "Curculio http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curculio_%28Plauto%29" on Wikipedia.
Laura Beretta, another student at “Galileo Galilei”, won the prize for the category "Translated and upgraded articles" with the article "Pseudolushttp://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudolus" on Wikipedia. Wikimedia Conference 2013
Preparations are underway for the organization of the Wikimedia Conference, to be held in Milan from April 18 to April 21. Giulia Sepehttp://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Gsepe_%28WMI%29joined the staff of Wikimedia Italia and will organize this international event of the Wikimedia movement, hosted for the first time in Italy. Updates and progresses in the organization of the Conference will be gradually published on Metahttp://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Conference_2013.
News in brief
(Note: in the translated version only the news regarding Italy are shown)
- Italian law by decree 179/2012 dated 18.10.2012http://www.gazzettaufficiale.it/moduli/DL_181012_179.pdf, already in force, establishes the obligation for schools to adopt textbooks in digital or mixed format from the school year 2013/2014 (2014/2015 for primary schools). We do not know at the time what are the prospects for the adoption of free digital content, but this law might be a good boost for Wikibooks, Wikiversity and Wikisource.
Errata
In the last issue of Wikimedia News we mentioned among the beneficiaries of the project Archeowiki the Archaeological Museum of Varese instead of Civic Archaeological Museum of Castelleone, Cremona, which is the actual beneficiary.
