Dear Wikimedians,
I’m excited to let you know that *Wikipedia Asian Month 2024
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month_2024>* is on the
horizon! 🎊🎊🎊
Scheduled from November to December, this annual event is dedicated to
enhancing both the amount and quality of Asia-related content on Wikipedia.
There are a few ways that you can be involved in this campaign:
*🏁As an Organizer
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month_2024/Join_an_Event>:
*Become an event organizer for one of the various language versions of
Wikipedia. You'll need to assemble a team of jury members to evaluate
participants' contributions. You can also coordinate with *regional
ambassadors
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month_User_Group/Ambassadors>*
to host offline events to encourage participation in your language
Wikipedia.
*🎖As a Participant
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month_2024>: *Contribute
by creating or editing articles related to Asia. Eligible participants will
get digital Barnstars as a reward!
👪In addition to actively participating in the competition, we have an
important announcement: WAMUG hopes to establish a *Steering Committee
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month/Ongoing_Project>* next
year. We need your input to help organize this committee. If you have any
thoughts or suggestions, please join us for the first call on October 27,
or feel free to share your ideas on the discussion page. We look forward to
hearing your valuable insights!
*🗺️WAM x Wikivoyage Special Edition
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month_2024/WikiVoyage_Speci…>:
*This
year, we will also launch the WAM x Wikivoyage Special Edition, and we
warmly invite everyone to actively sign up as organizers or participate in
the editing for Wikivoyage in Asia.
If you have any questions or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact WAM
Team. Thank you.
Sincerely,
*Betty*

Hello all,
Thank you to everyone who participated in the 2024 Wikimedia Foundation
Board of Trustees election
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:MyLanguage/Wikimedia_Foundation_ele…>.
6000 community members from more than 180 wiki projects have voted.
The following four candidates were the most voted:
* Christel Steigenberger
* Maciej Artur Nadzikiewicz
* Victoria Doronina
* Lorenzo Losa
While these candidates have been ranked through the vote, they still
need to be appointed to the Board of Trustees. They need to pass a
successful background check and meet the qualifications outlined in the
Bylaws. New trustees will be appointed at the next Board meeting in
December 2024.
